Steven Cohen - Partner


     Mr. Cohen brings over 40 years of experience to the firm.  He is admitted to practice in the Federal and State courts in New York.  Mr. Cohen earned his J. D. degree from Brooklyn Law School in 1980.  He is primarily responsible for running the firm as well as overseeing the general commercial and consumer litigation matters handled by the firm.  Mr. Cohen has expertise in construction law and lien law.  He has lectured to small and minority contractors on construction law.  Mr. Cohen is the firms Chief Compliance Officer, certified by the Debt Buyer's Association (Cert. # P1412-1083).

     Mr. Cohen is very active in the Debt Buyers Association being a long standing member of the Membership Committee.  He was on  the publicity subcommittee relating to DBA certification as well as the Marketing Committee relating to certification.  Mr. Cohen is the proud recipient of the President's Award given to him in 2016 by RMAI (previously DBA International).

Kyle Cohen


Adam graduated near the top of his class from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2009 and has spent his entire career litigating in and around New York City.  Prior to joining the Law Offices of Steven Cohen LLC, Adam worked as the managing attorney of a boutique general litigation practice and also as an associate at a prominent plaintiff's personal injury firm.  

Adam is well-versed in all aspects of litigation, having recovered millions of dollars in settlements, judgments, and verdicts for his clients.  Adam now primarily represents creditors, utilities, and injury victims in the tri-state area, aggressively and strategically seeking justice for those who must enforce their rights through the judicial process.  

Kyle was born and raised in New York.  He went to The Ohio State University for his bachelors where graduated Magna Cum Laude in three years.  After, he accepted a full ride scholarship from Seton Hall University School of Law where he received his Juris Doctor.
Kyle has dedicated himself to diligently and effectively represent clients.  Ensuring happy clients is his legal philosophy.  He has represented large and small creditors in the collection of money owed.  He has developed an expertise in the enforcement of money judgments,  small and large, against individuals and businesses, using an assortment of different measures to locate and execute upon assets.  He has also represented large construction suppliers in breach of contract cases to make them whole.
As a member of several committees in the Receivables Management Association International, Kyle is able to stay up to date on latest happenings, best practices, and technology in the Receivables industry.  He also been featured on the industry leading podcast Receivables Roundtable.

Maribel Chacha

  Maribel completed her undergraduate at the University at Albany SUNY, in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and Sociology with a minor in Business.  Maribel joined the firm as a law student where she worked as an intern in August 2020.  She subsequently graduated from CUNY School of Law in May 2021.  After taking the Bar Exam, Maribel rejoined the firm as a law clerk.  Upon admission to the New York Bar, Maribel is now overseeing our firm’s NY collection litigation as an associate attorney.

Jaazaniah Asahguii

  Jaazaniah Asahguii brings over a decade of litigation experience to the firm where he primarily handles all aspects of commercial litigation.

  Jay graduated Summa Cum Laude from St. Francis College in 2007 with a BA in English and received his Juris Doctor degree from the Fordham University School of Law in 2010.  While still in law school, he served clerkships with both a New York State Supreme Court Justice and a United States District Court Judge.

  After law school, Jay, as a holder of Federal Airframe and Powerplant licenses, joined a New York City law firm where he used his background in the aviation industry to practice product liability and insurance defense.  In 2014, he joined a Westchester firm where he practiced commercial litigation, labor law, and employment law.
